What methods would one use to share the Gospel with a Muslim?
There are many good evangelistic “methods” out there that are created for a Christian to witness to a lost person. A Muslim is just a lost person in need of a Savior. There is nothing special or scary about them. They are trying to get to heaven by their works. They try to do good and hope that God will forgive them. Is that a whole lot different than any other lost people you know? So don’t be afraid or timid. You don’t have to know all about Islam before you can reach a Muslims. You just have to know the Word of God.
How can you show them that Jesus is the true way to God and heaven?
Muslims already believe a lot of things that the Qur’an teaches about Jesus. They believe that he was sinless, born of a virgin, called the Messiah, and will one day come again. They do not believe that he is the “Son of God”. When a Muslim hears that Jesus was the “Son of God” they infer that the Christian believes that God had sexual relations with a woman and therefore he now has a son. I would suggest that as you witness about Christ you stick to Christ’s title in John 1 as the Word of God made flesh. That will be easily understood. The best witnessing strategy is to use the words of Christ. They respect Christ and will respect his words.
Would you use anything in the Quran to help point them to Christ?
There are a number of reasons that the use of the Qur’an in witnessing is impractical:
- It is not a repeatable procedure. If you spent hours learning the Qur’an in order to use it with your Muslim friend, you would not be able to repeat that strategy with others in your church. They will be intimidated and will think that witnessing to Muslims is only for the experts.
- To handle the Qur’an you must perform ablution (the process of cleansing with water of the hands, feet, and face). Since Christians don’t believe that we are made clean by water but by the blood of Christ you won’t be doing ablution. Thus, if a Muslim were astute and cared about the Qur’an, he wouldn’t want you to handle it in that way anyway.
- The Qur’an is written in Arabic. Muslims believe that the translation is unacceptable and only the Arabic is the authoritative Word of God (whether they speak Arabic or not).
- To use the Qur’an in extensive Bible study is to give the Qur’an credence as a true book. Let the truth of the Word of God shine and you won’t need to disprove a darkened piece of literature. It will be proven to be false.
4. If you are planing on working in a closed or open country how would you start a church.
